WORKSHOPS: (Friday)

Dog Training: This workshop will show participants how to train their dogs to round up cattle and keep cattle in a penned area.

Weaving/Spinning: This demo will showcase the “Past” in our theme and give attendees instruction in this hobby.

Worm Composting: Learn the mechanics of how to compost using worms. If you would like to learn how to turn your household and/or your barnyard wastes into black gold, this workshop is for you.

This workshop will discuss both Vermicomposting and Vermiculture. You will learn how to house, fee and care for the compost worms.

Self-Defence: Presented by a member of the local RCMP Detachment, you will learn the art of basic self-defence.

Watercolor Painting: Presented by a local artist, you learn basic water color painting in this 2-hour session. This is a fun hobby for those interested in the arts or if you want to learn about this medium.

SPEAKERS: (Saturday)

Chris Harris: World-class wilderness photographer. He will speak on preservation of grasslands. Chris will share his visual journey of discovery through one of the last two, nearly intact, grasslands on planet Earth.

Heather Pritchard: Food Systems & You. Executive Director of FarmFolk/CityFolk with 40 years experience assisting non-profits, cooperatives and small businesses with financial planning, organizational development and personal management.
Heloise Dixon-Warren: A director on the executive of the BC Agri-Tourism Alliance. Heloise & her husband have Moose Meadows Farm near Quesnel BC, a 65-acre family farm which produces diverse products produced on the farm. Her topic is Farm Diversification.

Alison Roberts: Her talks focus on themes such as the trials and tribulations of getting (and staying) organized. She has published her book “Clutter's Dirty Secret”; it reflects a growing concern regarding North America's insatiable desire for more stuff. Alison's topic will promote alternative energy sources (her van runs on veggie oil) and stress the importance of preservation of the planet.

Dan & Carol Ohler: “Think Outside Your Barn”. Grass roots techniques for working effectively in business or your larger community. A powerful, dynamic team, both are professional speakers, facilitators, workshop leaders and down-to-earth people. They encourage change through insight and humour.

Gordon Dickie, Donex; Heidi Reid, Higher Ground Natural Foods and Tatania Bates, Nutritionist, Interior Health.

The Saturday evening Banquet includes dinner, entertainment, a silent auction and hat contest. Put your 'thinking hat's on &make a hat featuring one of the parts of the theme. The best hat in each category will win a prize. If you have an item to donate to the silent auction, BCFWN would greatly appreciate this donation.
